Super-fast Freestyle board. The windsurfing boards have been used as display pieces in the store and may have individual marks.
From Epikoo.com:
The Starboard Flare underwent extensive research and development before it was first launched a few years ago. Starboard has combined both maneuverability and power in the Flare to create the perfect freestyle board – and the result has been very successful as the board has become popular with all types of riders.
In 2008, Starboard chose to continue manufacturing Flare boards but with several improvements to increase overall performance. For the 2008 model, the Flare has been given wider tail sections that provide extra volume for more powerful planing, better lift and higher top speed. The curved rocker line optimizes power transfer and allows the board to make maximum use of the water flow. This results in a fast and smooth glide feel and plenty of pop for high jumps and advanced tricks.
The smaller versions of the board use a rocker line and V-hull inspired by slalom boards. These features, combined with an ergonomic profile, significantly improve top speed, turning radius and rotation.
Thanks to its hydrodynamic shape and optimal volume distribution, the Flare is very stable but at the same time agile. The lightweight construction reduces friction against the water and provides a resistance-free riding experience. The construction is based on Technora and carbon fiber composites in a single-sandwich layer that balances tensile strength and wear resistance. In particularly exposed parts, the Starboard Flare is reinforced with carbon fiber and Kevlar, which means it can withstand hard use without damage.
In addition to power and speed, Starboard has also improved maneuverability. The board provides a more direct steering feel and reacts quickly to all movements. When fully powered, the turns become aggressive and provide an optimal freestyle session at a high level. Therefore, it is mainly recommended for advanced and experienced riders who can fully utilize the board's speed and acceleration.
The board is also very comfortable thanks to a curved deck and soft heel grooves.
For best efficiency, Starboard recommends combining the Flare with Drake Cross Over fins and a 4.5 to 7.5 square meter freestyle or freeride sail .
